I admit that the frog in the blender is more of a novelty than anything else, but that’s why it’s so great for Halloween! In terms of drink itself, it’s like a vodka-cranberry beverage, and it’s pretty good by itself. The thing that makes things weird is only when you throw in the “frog”. Lime wheels make up the “frog” in this drink, and they are only lightly blended with the rest of the ingredients. When the drink is in the glass, an eyeball made from a lychee adds to the creepy effect. Put any flavor of vodka into the drink to give it a new dimension. With cranberry juice, any fruit vodka will taste great, and you can also get creative with dark-colored vodkas like espresso or chocolate, as well as deep purple vodkas such as Van Gogh Açai-Blueberry. It’s hard to ignore the black vodkas (such as Blavod, which is much scarier) and colored vodkas (such as UV Blue and UV Green), which really add some extra fun. Usually people would prefer to drink wine, but you can substitute liquor if you wish. The perfect rum and tequila for this drink are rum and tequila. In the same way, you can use any fruit juice you want.
Tips
You can take the frog in a blender concept and mix it to create your own custom mix! Ice can be added in two ways: you can either start out with a cup of crushed ice, or you can add five or six regular ice cubes. This recipe makes a 10-ounce drink, so you will need a large glass. If you prefer, you can split it into two different glasses or pour it into a cocktail glass if you desire.
