Created by famed Ritz-Carlton Central Park bartender Norman Bukofzer, the 50 Central Park is the perfect gin drink for summer. It’s named for the luxury hotel’s proximity to the city’s iconic green space. A Bloody Mary at Central Park is a must-try if you are a fan. In comparison to the more famous drink, this tomato juice highball lacks the spices. Instead, it has a mellow, flavorful aspect by which tomatoes are served with a touch of cayenne pepper and New Amsterdam Gin, as well as vanilla. It doesn’t sound quite right, but it’s refreshing and lends a touch of sweetness.
Tips
Adding fresh juice made with tomatoes to Central Park would be an excellent choice. You can make it with an electric juicer or blender. You can make great juice with cherry tomatoes as well, but you will need a lot of them. For the Central Park version, muddle the fruit in the bottom of your shaker and strain the drink over fresh ice. Just like the Green Bloody Mary, the Central Park has a nice flavor from the green vegetable juice.
